Welcome to the Department of Dermatology at Duke University Medical Center. Duke Dermatology

has a long tradition that began when Dr. J. Lamar Callaway founded the Division in 1939.

Dr. Callaway remained at Duke his entire career and trained many leaders in academic

dermatology and in private practice. Dr. Cal established a tradition of excellence in teaching the art

and science of dermatology, in the discovery of new knowledge in the field of cutaneous biology

and skin diseases, and in providing compassionate and thoughtful care for patients with skin disease.

We are proud to carry on the traditions of Dr. Cal in the 21st Century. We are committed to
